Some of you know Coach Paul better as Mr. Cumings (or Mr. Coupon) from Oak Hill Elementary School, where he’s a fourth grade teacher. He is very excited about having the opportunity to lead our summer league swim team again this year. He swims today for fun and exercise, but started swimming a long time ago when he was just a tadpole of about six or seven years old in Annapolis, Maryland. He continued swimming summer league all through his high school years as a Spartan in Houston. After high school graduation, he began his professional career as a swim coach. He started as an assistant coach on the team he’d swum with forever, Nottingham Forest Swim Team. He then became head coach for two years on other teams. Needless to say, he’s thrilled about this team’s potential and the future challenges we set and overcome. The sky’s the limit for the Travis Country Sharks.
In Coach Paul’s words: Try hard and swim hard.
I have lived in Travis Country since 2007, and all three of my girls – Katie, Ellie and Claire – have been Sharks. My daughter Katie was a coach until last year, and this year, my daughter Ellie will be a swimmer and a coach. My youngest, Claire, is a 12 year old swimmer this year, and wants to be an apprentice coach next year. She already helps the coaches when she can. I love being a Shark parent and a Sharks coach. Just about everyone we know in the neighborhood we know because of the swim team. All year long I am an attorney, but I look forward to May every year when I am alsoCoach Sara. Swim season is the best time of the year! Go Sharks!
Hi! I’m Elizabeth Davis, i’m a senior this year. I’ve been swimming with the Sharks since I was 6 years old and volunteering as a coach since I was 13. I’ve also been swimming on my high school varsity team for all four years of high school and I’m so excited to spend my 12th year on the Sharks as my first year being an assistant coach!
Hi! I am Rachel Escobedo. I am honored to be back for my 6th summer as a TC Sharks coach, but my 18th summer as a part of the Travis Country Swim team. Along with summer league, I swam a few years with Longhorn Aquatics, and spent my high school career with the Austin High swim team. I am so exited to see what this summer has in store for this team! Go Sharks Go!
After a two season hiatus I'm excited to be back with the Shark Family for my fifth summer coaching! I first joined the team as a five year old in 1999 and competed every summer until I graduated high school. Not only have I been a Shark for 19 seasons but I swam as a Maroon on the Austin High Swim Team and even dabbled in a few swim courses during my time at UT. Aside from being a swim enthusiast I enjoy running, science and design! Favorite summer league events: 50 Breast and 100 IM!
This summer will be my 14th year with the Sharks. It has been a very big part of my childhood and I am excited to share my love of swimming with neighborhood kids. My favorite strokes are freestyle and breaststroke. I will be a sophomore at UT in the fall and am a member of the Texas Ultimate Frisbee team. Frisbee and swimming are my favorite sports to play.
Hi I’m Coach Mia! I’ve been swimming with the Sharks since I was 10 and apprentice coaching since 8th grade. I swam with WHAC in high school as well as the Austin High team. I love the Sharks and look forward to May every year! I am currently a freshman at UT majoring in Radio-Television-Film and I work on multiple television shows for TSTV (texas student television.) I am also swimming with the masters program at the UT swim center. I am super excited for this season with the Sharks!
Hi! I’m Tyler Pillman, and I am a senior at Austin High. I have been swimming with the sharks since was 4 years old, and have been an apprentice coach since middle school. I am really excited to spend my 14th year with the Sharks as a coach and a swimmer.
Hi, I’m RyanCole! I am very excited to be a coach this summer. I was a swimmer for the Sharks every summer from five years old all the way to 18. I also served as an apprentice coach for several years. There are many reasons I enjoy being a part of the Sharks: the incredible team spirit, the always exciting swim meets, and spending time with all the fellow swimmers. I am looking forward to a great summer. Go Sharks!
For the 2019 season we will again be using apprentice coaches during our practices. Any Sharks, 9th - 11th grade, who are interested in earning community service hours by working as apprentice coaches, please contact:
